Four Rules for Updating Buddhism

1. Accept early Buddhism as it is recorded in the Early Buddhist Texts.
2. Interpret early Buddhism within its own historical and cultural context.
3. Intentionally and transparently revise those aspects that do not align with a deistic and rational understanding of the world, the mind, and life in the 21st century.
4. Ground these revisions in the best available evidence from science, psychology, philosophy, and comparative spirituality.
