The Four Tasks

The four tasks corresponding to the Four Truths are: comprehend suffering; abandon the origin of suffering; experience the cessation of suffering; and develop the path.

Truth: Conditioned existence is unsatisfactoriness
Task: Comprehend unsatisfactoriness

Truth: Attachment is the cause of unsatisfactoriness
Task: Abandon attachment

Truth: Ending attachment ends unsatisfactoriness
Task: Experience freedom from attachment

Truth: The path leads to the ending of unsatisfactoriness
Task: Develop the eightfold path

The Truths are to be understood and believed so that they can guide the tasks, which are the actions that follow from that understanding.
